Our team has just returned from our annual geological field trip, this time to the beautiful Alpes-Maritimes and Haute Provence regions of southern France. Led by Dr. Lawrence Amy and Dr. Vincent Roche, the trip took us through several key locations, including Peïra Cava, Annot, and Montagne de Chalufy.
A key focus of the trip was studying turbidites and structural geology, which are critical for understanding deep-water sedimentary and tectonic processes. We explored:
– Deep-water processes and turbidite systems
– Onlap geometries
– Syn-depositional tectonics
– Depositional facies and subaerial analogues of submarine flows
In addition to the technical learning, this trip is also about strengthening our team. We enjoyed delicious food, explored beautiful landscapes, and spent quality time together, reinforcing the teamwork and collaboration that is so important in our daily work at Exploro.
